Glenside Rotarians volunteered to help with the Abington Fireworks display on the 4th. Thanks to Steve Vahey for organizing this, and all our members, spouses, and fiends who showed up to help out. Fun night had by all!

Thanks to Connie and Rod for being wonderful hosts for this year's picnic, which was a Pizza Party in their backyard - complete with Pizza Oven and homemade pies. Otto was a nice addition - look up "Poli" to see more info on this interesting breed of Hungarian Sheepdog -no, that is not a mop. At the meeting the club installed their new officers, and also voted to accept the revisions to the club by-laws.
May 29 - Joint meeting of Abington, Glenside and Jenkintown Rotary Clubs to discuss Membership.5/29/2018 Thanks to the Jenkintown Rotary Club for hosting Abington and Glenside Rotary today for a discussion about how the three clubs can work together to attract new members. Hopefully we can move forward to work collaboratively to bring more Rotary magic and service to all our communities. Jenkintown President John Washington took the opportunity to thank Glenside President Norma for the many years we worked together, first with Manor Rotarct for 15 years and this year as club presidents. Norma leaves in a few weeks to begin retirement on the beach in North Carolina, and yes - there are 4 Rotary Clubs across the causeway.... Glenside Rotary was pleased to be able to honor 4 of our long-standing members today at our meeting. Certificates were presented to Fred Conti, who joined our club in 1957, Jerry Lieberman (who celebrates 50 years of service to the club this coming October), Harry May and Bob Pannepacker who both joined in 1977. Thank you all for your ongoing "Service Above Self".
Interesting and informative conference with great speakers, and a wonderful service project packing toiletries bags for kids for Project C.U.R.E. It was also moving to recognize Edwin Boerner, who we lost in March, in the Memorium Service. Norma gave the rose and a copy of the program to Ed's sister-in-law, Doris, after he event. Second "SASY" Awards ceremony was held at Springfield Country Club. Pres. Norma was nominated for "Best Producer of an International Project" for her work last year getting over $100,000 of medical equipment and supplies donated and shipped to Kyiv. Norma was happy to be there to see long-time friend Jane Williams win the Lifetime Achievement Award. Jane and Norma worked togeeher for many years on the District 7450 Rotaract Committee. D'Lisa Simmons attended as RI President Riseley's Representative. Thanks to all the volunteers, as well as those who came out to support our major fundraising event for service projects for the local community. The club was happy to have ADG Matt Breidenstein join us on Thursday evening at Trios Tomato Pie, Easton Road in Glenside for the club's social night. We enjoyed wraps, paninis, salads and members brought their own libations. It was a fun and relaxing evening in a great environment. Thanks to Giuliano and his staff for all the wonderful service.
